Building a site in Injader is all about areas and articles.
When you install Injader, two areas will be created for you. Home, and Forum. These are displayed on the navigation bar at the top.
If you go to the Control Panel and click on Areas, you will see all of the areas on your site. You can create, edit and delete areas here.
When adding or editing an area, you will see there is a “Parent” drop down list. Areas with no parent are called top-level areas. If you create an area beneath another area, e.g. you set the “Parent” to Home, you will have created a subarea.
Top-level areas are displayed in your navigation bar, providing they use the Primary navigation type. For more info, read the guide on Navigation types.
Let's say you create two subareas under Home, called “Information” and “Tutorials”. You will see those subarea links if you click on Home. If you added another subarea called “Beginner Guide” under the “Information” subarea, you will see the “Beginner Guide” link when you click on “Information”.
Here's the kind of structure that you would have created if you followed those steps:
It is important to think about how you want to structure your site before adding any content. Get your areas organised correctly first.
To add content to your site, you can create articles. Go into an area and you will see a link, “Add an article”. Click on this and you will be able to start writing your content. You will see the area is selected at the top.
It is important to remember that each article belongs to an area. As you navigate around your site, clicking into each area will display the articles in that area along with any subareas. For instance, if you added 5 articles to the “Information” section, you would view them by clicking on Home followed by Information. You would also see the “Beginner Guide” link as that is a subarea in the “Information” section.
On the Areas page in the Control Panel, there are some links that can be used to add new areas:
You cannot add content directly to a linked area or a smart area.
An area can only be deleted if all of the following are true:
If you delete all of the articles in an area (thereby marking them as “Deleted”) you can permanently delete the area and all articles beneath.
If an area has several subareas beneath it, you will have to delete all of the subareas before you can delete the area at the top. Changing an area's parent will move all subareas as well, so this can reduce the effort required to delete a top-level area. To avoid lengthy administration tasks, plan your site before you build it.
